Beyond Omkoi lies a little slice of paradise where I like to retreat to when city life feels too hectic - this year it was the perfect place for celebrating Christmas and my son's first Birthday.  While Chiang Mai has been unusually cold this winter, here in the mountains we had 6 degrees Celcius and clear skies.

Just back from a Secret Hideaway weekend in an oasis of lush green rice fields!  Nothing like a room with a view and a lovely verandah to relax on :)

The weather is starting to heat up and I've been squirreling about far far away - this time to a secret hideaway in Omkoi.  But despite the heat and the dryness it always feels fresh and cool taking a walk down by the river.  There is something about the sound of running water that is so soothing and relaxing!

After a busy Christmas and hectic New Year I decided I needed to get out of Chiang Mai for a few days to recharge my batteries!  This secret hideaway lies about a day's journey south-west of Chiang Mai, has no electricity and no cell phone coverage.  Spent the time relaxing, enjoying great company and eating far too much delicious food!  On the last day we hiked high up on a mountain ridge and watched spellbound as the sun set over Burma.

I love this secret lake tucked away on the Chiang Mai University Campus!  It is the perfect place to relax on lush green grass, dream, read a book, all of the above or just indulge in some amazingly delicious Thai-style honey-soaked-and-fried-in-crispy batter bananas.
