Squirreling About - far far away

Hello Helsinki!

It is always lovely to go on a short autumn trip, and if you’re visiting Stockholm it is always nice to take the boat to Finland and Helsinki for some extra adventure.

Last week I took a 40 hour trip, with two nights on the boat and one lovely day in Helsinki. For some people the boat is the goal, but for us squirrels it was the 7 hours we spent in a sunny Helsinki that was the peak.

When in Helsinki, I can highly recommend visiting Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art, which always shows interesting exhibitions.

Also one should not miss out on the lovely cafés and particularly not the lovely pastries!

One of mine favorite cafés is located in the big book store Akateeminen kirjakauppa and is called Café Aalto. Here you rest your tired paws on beautiful designer chairs surrounded by lovely books and pastries.

Another really nice café is Salutorget, the service here is excellent and they have the best lingon berry cake ever!

When you are full from all the pastries it can be nice to do some shopping and in Helsinki shopping is really wonderful. One of my favourite areas is the Helsinki DesignDistrict where you can find a lot of really nice design and fashion boutiques.  Some of my favourites are, Helsinki 10, Lux and Ivana Helsinki.
